wind forcast all day, but less cloud in the afternoon so took a risk and went down for the PM. Arrived to blue sky and sunshine and a strong wind blowing. Loads of people on the water not suprisingly.

Had my usual debate about what sail to rig, and decided on my (least favourite) 6M Storm. Rigging went better than usual, but maybe should have had a touch more downhaul in hind-sight.

Headed of from a slightly different location and was very paranoid about damaging/loosing the fin so had quite a walk to the deeper water. hopped on and relised I was overpowered. Sea state was very choppy and I soon realised I was also on too big a board and completed the felony with too large a fin.

Had a few maxed out runs, lots of spin out, lots of railing, lots of 'on the edge' sailing in and out of the tsraps and harness, finally got royally slammed.

Now at home and the swelling on my head is still about 8cm by 3cm, boy did I hit that mask hard, makes you reliase why people wear helmets. Lukily there was no blood and despite a brief period where I did not feel up to chasing the board and sail it became obvious I was OK.

Took a slow walk in to contemplate the next move and decided to change the fin. Should have downhaled the sail as well!

Stilll some improvement and managed some reasonable runs still on the edge, but not with such a lively board. Spin out incidence reduced significantly and even managed to attempt a chop hop.....only partial sucess though.

Overall wish I had more 'change down' options.....why oh why did I not buy that cheap F2 Ride and the 5M Storm sail that went for £50..........

3.5 stars as not a great performance, but once again the sun makes up the rating
